چکیده

In the present work supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) using CO2, was applied for the pre-treatment of mandarin peels. Two-step extraction, combining SFE and conventional extraction, was investigated. During the first extraction step supercritical CO2 at temperatures 25, 40 and 60°C and pressures from 100 to 300 bar was applied to remove the non-polar components from the extracting material. During the subsequent step, conventional extraction of the residual material was performed with 70 % aqueous solution of acetone at optimal operating parameters (60°C, solid-to-solvent ratio 1:50 g/mL) which were investigated in prior extraction experiments. The obtained results confirm earlier findings, that mandarin peels are a potentially good source of flavonoids. Pre-treatment with supercritical CO2 removed the non-polar components and the polar polyphenols became more accessible. Results show that by using SFE with CO2, the polymethoxylated flavones can be separated from flavanones.

Fast and Green - CO2 Based Extraction, Isolation, and Quantification of Phenolic Styrax Constituents.

In this study the first supercritical fluid based protocol for the extraction, analysis, and isolation of six polar compounds, i.e., o-vanillin (1), styracin (2), vanillin (3), trans-cinnamic acid (4), vanillic acid (5), and shikimic acid (6), was developed. First, eight styrax resin products (R1-R8) obtained from various Liquidambar tree species, which are known to contain compounds 2-6, were ...

Supercritical CO2 extraction and purification of compounds with antioxidant activity.

Supercritical fluid extraction (SCFE), based on the utilization of a fluid under supercritical conditions, is a technology suitable for extraction and purification of a variety of compounds, particularly those that have low volatility and/or are susceptible to thermal degradation. The interest in SCFE is promoted by legal limitations of conventional solvents for food and pharmaceutical uses. Th...

Biological Properties of Fucoxanthin in Oil Recovered from Two Brown Seaweeds Using Supercritical CO2 Extraction

The bioactive materials in brown seaweeds hold great interest for developing new drugs and healthy foods. The oil content in brown seaweeds (Saccharina japonica and Sargassum horneri) was extracted by using environmentally friendly supercritical CO2 (SC-CO2) with ethanol as a co-solvent in a semi-batch flow extraction process and compared the results with a conventional extraction process using...

The Application of Supercritical Carbon Dioxide and Ethanol for the Extraction of Phenolic Compounds from Chokeberry Pomace

Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa (Michx.) Elliot) is a fruit with exceptionally high levels of phenolic compounds which are accumulated mainly in the peel; hence, the majority remains in the leftovers after juice production. Extraction with the use of carbon dioxide in supercritical conditions was used to isolate phenolic compounds from the pomace. The effect of the process parameters (temperatur...
